Default Low Oil Pressure Warning on 3.6

Last weekend the oil pressure warning message appeared on the screen in the instrument cluster. If you shut off the car and restarted it, it would not reapear. My wife called Schaumburg Audi on Monday morning to schedule an appointment. They told her that it was just a software update and it would not be available until August, i.e., "don't worry about it, call us in August, we don't want to be bothered with this now". She called Audi Customer Care. They told her to get it checked out. She brought it to McGrath Audi. They performed several "physical" checks on the engine, e.g., oil pressure, and deduced that there was nothing mechanically wrong. They said the warning light was most likely related to a software update needed for the cluster display. This was performed and the car appears to be fine now.

The moral of the story; not all dealers are created equal...at least not in the Chicago area.

Default It is not software....

Sounds like your dealers doesn't want to do work to find out. Audi of America told me directly about the engineers have found an issue - that will require a Part/hardware. Maybe there are a few types of problems. My oil pressure tested fine too.

Default Thanks for the info on your bad dealer experience...

I was about to take my Q there for service, after a horrific experience at yet another Chicago Audi dealer. Maybe I'll have to drive further up north for good service..

Default Maybe, maybe not...

With all do respect, I don't think you or I can make that statement with much certainty. What I can say, is that we no longer see the low oil pressure warning. So, at this point, I'm not too concerned how they resolved it, software, new parts, or voodoo.

My bigger concern is with a dealer who is so indifferent to a customer's plight that he would brush it off and tell us to simply live with it.

Default New oil filter housing

there is supposed to be an updated oil filter housing with some changes to the drain back valves coming in the next few weeks. Audi promises it causes no damage and will call when update is ready. It only happens after car is shut off for longer periods and may be accompanied the knocking in the rear of the engine.

Default I feel for you

The dealership can make or break an experience. Ours has been very good despite not having any answers. That attitude would make me go elsewhere.
