Default NAV Update?

I have a 2010 Q7 which was delivered in May 2010.

Does anyone know if there has been a NAV Maps update for this one? The Audi NAV website no longer sells direct; and tells you to contact your Audi dealer. I'm not willing to pay his prices, if it is available.

Attached is what one parts source says is available. Requires dealer installation. It does not appear to be a NavTeq product, which is what I currently have in my Q7.

MB and other marques allow end user installation of updates by a DVD. What gives with this Audi?

If this is all there is, I can live without it.

It turns out that this one is not for the Q7.

I have now been advised by two different parts counters that any updates to the NAV maps MUST be done by the dealer. Required are the NAV update disc, a service disc and a VAGCOM connection to Germany.

Other car brands allow NAV updates by an owner installable DVD. Audi really irritates me with some of their policies. I can certainly live without this kind of nonsense. Arrggghhhh!!!!

Every MMI 3G BASIC (KW22/09) / MMI 3G PLUS / RMC can only update by dealer because you can buy only an activation key. in Europe there are 23GB who download the dealer directly from the audi-server with your act. key.

Every MMI 2G (KW06/06-KW21/09) (not the Basic) can update via DVD

I could understand the need for this, if doing a system firmware update; but a map update should be a simple software update via a user installable CD or DVD.

I guess I'll just have to live without the update.

Follows the trend of less and less owner serviceable parts. Pretty soon you will need VAG-COM for an oil change....

every DVD from VW/Audi can only take 4.7GB. So only for Europe you need to DVD for 2D Terrain.

Audi use 3D Terrain for City-Details, POI-Pictures etc, thatswhy there are so much more GB necessary.

Your Point, thats absolut correctly, is that they donīt deliver a UPDATE, they only deliver a FULL VERSION. an thatīs really not ok.

But VW/AUDI had never UPDATES, since 1990...

I did, and did not need my VAG-COM when I did the job.
