New Audi Door Chime... Possible to Retrofit?
This seems like a stretch.. But anyone think it's possible to retrofit the new door chime into an older model? Recently sat in a new A4 and instead of the anoyying loud beep the older Audi's have, it had a soft, comforting chime similar to the chime of the no seatbelt sign on an airplane. What do you guys think? I really don't think it is possible but it'd be nice. How does the chime work in Audi's? is it an external buzzer/bell, or is it computer programmed?

I would love to see this as well. I was hoping the VAG would handle this but I showed it to a techie and he said that there are no codes. These are sound wav's stored on to an onboard root location which is locked. I would say if that tone can be replaced, it would require changing the chime buzzer (probably) to a comparable speaker.
Its really a soothing tone.

Though grating, I can live with the old chime. What's odd and conspicuously lacking is any kind of chime for the rear hatch closing. Obviously the person clicking the button knows it's closing, but would be nice to hear a beep to confirm and to warn others nearby to beware.
