Ok, I will get it into a shop. It irks me that I have to have a shop do a battery. Super annoying!

What's odd, is if the battery was failing i would think it would have failed by now. It's been starting like this for 4 months. Who knows though.

If you have a vcds cable you can do your own battery, Albeit it’s under this driver seat! Just make certain to buy one on the list that the ECU will except.

also you’ll want to Google the vcds battery replacement, should find you the procedure.

A Denverite! I moved to Washington from Castle Rock in 2015. GOod to see you on here.

Anyhow!

Wait- you can program the new battery in with a HEX-V2 VCDS?? I didn't know that was possible with the $200 tool. If so, is there a write up anywhere on how to do it with the HX-V2? I'd MUCH rather do this myself- Paying a mechanic to replace a battery seems asinine.

You need a set of
Triple Squares Triple Squares
, A Torx wrench, and a VCDS, I have a Hex-COM from ~2001 and just did it fine.. Took 15-20mins including finding the tools since they were not put back the last time heh.

The worst. My d3 started throwing wierd codes had to take it to Audi to get a battery. 500 bucks later new battery no more codes. I'm still dealing with p2179 which I believe is a vac leak.
