Default Observation of TDI fuel economy

So I drove over the holiday 600 miles highway to my destination. The best mileage I can get was 24.5

This same exact route, weather conditions, kids, cargo etc. was performed before the modifications and I got 27.3

What is everyone else getting? I realize there are a lot of variables.

I thought the agreement was no more than 1 mpg would be lost

Yeah, the new ECU and TCU tune are turning out to kill our mileage more than advertised. I'm about the same way mileage wise, driving from Destin to Orlando. However I might have a rate of travel averaging 80-90mph... So its a fair trade in my mind.

We drive Birmingham to Fort Worth fairly frequently. Cruise set to 79 mph. 675 miles. Ours consistently gets 27.5 mpg on this run. If I slowed up just a bit I believe I could make it without a fuel stop. It’s not very different than was our 2011 TDI without the fix.

i think everyone can agree that the fixed diesels suck. The new Q7 gassers would get a solid 26mpg in those same conditions, if not more

I don’t really agree with that. Our 2015 just today got 30.1 mpg from Houston to Fort Worth. What I do see is that the newer gasoline 3.0 with the supercharger clutch and the lighter chassis with less frontal area has closed the mileage gap a lot. Those of us who tow still need the torque though.

September trip from Wisconsin to Vermont via I-94/294/80/90/87 avg 75mph and 30.1mpg.

Got a little less (29.7) coming back, but had more two lane driving coming back and construction delays.

The only thing I’ve noticed with my 2015 Q7 is the higher rpm shift points when she’s cold until the cats warm up.

Sport mode on the shifter still goes like a stabbed rat.

Get your TCU tuned back to pre-fix parameters, you'll be much happier.

Concerned about warranty? Get a spare off eBay Germany (I paid $225 shipped) and get it tuned to pre-fix then install it, keep your original in case it needs to go in to the dealer.

Write to yrk2.7t@curbside for info on pre-fix flashes. Stand up guy right there!
