Park brake not disengaging completely (light stays on)
Just a quick and very pleasing repair I thought I'd share. For at least a year or two, when I pulled the park brake release handle, the foot parking brake wouldn't completely release and the warning light and chime would alert me. I got around it by hooking my toe in behind the pedal and pulling it forward the last few millimetres, but it was an annoyance.
Finally I decided to do some research. I'd been blaming the switch for being poorly adjusted or misplaced, but I came to realise that the culprit was in fact the little gas strut that acts as a spring and pushes the pedal back out into the 'off' or 'released' position. It is a cheap enough product (about US$14 I think), but it is a pain to replace.
Once it was in however, the problem was fixed 100%. A good job to do at home. This was the part: Pelican Parts - Track Your Order
Here's the culprit.

Need to do this on the 4.2 still. It's been on my list, however I may have to replace bank 2 cam adjusters. P0021 came up along with a blinking MIL. Yippee! Not really. $$$$.
