Please Advise! - Buying new 2015 Q7 TDI s-line Prestige
#21
When I first started looking for the Q7 TDI, I desired the wood trim. Then upon seeing the carbon fiber on the truck that I eventually purchased, I had to have it. Especially with the upgraded stitched upholstery and headline, etc. Everything about it screams awesome. Not tacky at all.

Thanks for the input on the carbon fiber, all. Just FYI, in case you didn't see it, yesterday the court approved the fix for the 2015 Q7s. I assume it meant all 2nd Gen Q7 TDIs (2013-2015). Its a software update only! No physical alteration will be made, which is a good sign for performance. The sales guy at Audi didn't know about it, none of them did. If you've been wanting one, now is the time to stay on top of your dealer everyday (if you weren't able to put a deposit on one like OP).

Actually Gen2 Q7 TDI's are both software and hardware, they are replacing the SCR Catalyst to handle the increased DEF consumption.
Fixes start Nov 6th, if history repeats the stop saled vehicles will be released within about a month of then.. but they need to give the parts to waiting customers first, so they might not be released all at once.

Do you have a source for what you said about Gen2 fix? Not questioning it, just would like to learn more (including performance impact) and everything I've read doesn't state that. They say this: "The 2015 Audi Q7 as well as the 2013-2014 VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne SUVs will receive a software update only, while Touaregs and Cayennes from model years 2015-2016 will get hardware changes as well"

TDI
I've had the 2011 TDI from new. It is a generation 1 TDI q7 so I have to sell it back. I think I like it better than the new model q7 that are now available only with gas.
What should I do? I found a graphite gray s-line Q7 TDI Prestige loaded with a MSRP of $74K. A hard to find vehicle. It's new still sitting on the dealer lot waiting for the fix, and the dealer will sell it to me heavily discounted...but not sure of the price yet. The dealers are waiting for Audi to let them know how much they can discount. I can put a small refundable deposit on it to hold until we can come to terms on pricing.
These TDI Q7s are the best Q7s ever in my opinion. For those that have owned a TDI Q7 I would appreciate your input. Audi will never again sell Diesel Q7's in the states. They are going toward a hybrid in the next couple years and not toward diesel.
Should I buy the leftover S-line and at what discount off the $74K MSRP. They go completely through the vehicle, put new tires on it, and certify it and give at the full 4 year warranty. Or should I buy a new gas Q7? Please advise. Thanks.

I have a 2015 TDI and still love it two years running. The TDI drives smooth and has that extra third row that I need at times. The Diesel engine gets great performance and has plenty of power. I am heavy footed at times but will easily get 18-20city and 28-30 hwy. I've done road trip with the cruise at 75-80mph and still pull in 30 m/p/g. Again, I love my TDI and think the whole Diesel thing was over blown if you read about it. The TDI fix is merely a software ECM fix that apples more AdBlue in idel situations is the jist of it. Good luck. Diesel engines just last longer.
