I recently upgraded my original xenon bulbs to Osram Xenarc 5500k bulbs. While I have seen a noticeable difference in visibility, the headlight output is still quite lacking. Has anyone attempted to retrofit different projectors and/or replace the fresnel lens on the stock projector? I've searched high and low and not found anything specific to the Q7 headlight (pre-facelift) -- mine is a 2007 to be exact.

I would prefer to avoid the cost of upgrading the entire housing, especially because what I am looking for is function rather than aesthetics.

What headlights do you have that are lacking?
I am pretty sure I have the 2007 top of the line ones, projectors, move left right and up down, I know they work perfectly.

I have the low-line HIDs in my '08 and they are pretty lame, brightness-wise. The headlights on my 25 year old S4 are significantly better. This is with brand new OEM D1S bulbs.

Upgrade to Euro E-Code bi-xenons and some D1S Osram NightBreaker Lasers.

Make sure your lens is clear. I had the xenons on my 2008 4.2 Premium and they were amazing.

I have Bi-Xenon AFS headlights in my 2007 3.6 Premium. The output is decent, but not great. The fresnel lens really limits output and blurs the light at the cutoff. I would probably be much happier with a clear lens but from the limited information I have read, the lens is not able to be removed from the projector on these particular headlights. I haven't been able to find any information where anyone has made any documented attempt at working on these headlights. If I was going to spend $1000 on headlights I would retrofit the facelift ones in but I don't really see spending that much money on this vehicle as being worth it.

My tentative plan at this point is to try and find a budget or broken headlight to try to use as a test pilot to dissemble and experiment with to see what I'm looking at in terms of work/possibilities if anyone has something they want to sell or donate That way I can work on it without risking the lights from my truck.
