Does your sound go right away after 2-4 seconds ?, if so your ok. There is a TSB out there to not repair the chain as the sound will come back due to the location of the tensioner and how it's oil leaks out after the motors shut down. Been dealing with the sound for 25k miles and it has not lasted any longer then the 2-4 seconds. But it's your money use it when you want to

I have the same issue. 2014 Q7 S line and with 88k miles on it. Just recently started doing it. I've ran full synthetic oil in this car for the last few months.

I've read the brochure Audi put out from the above thread. If it's the lack of oil getting up there does anyone think a lighter weight oil would help?

My 2014 3.0 does the same thing. Have only 36k miles on it. Dealer said it was normal. Goes quiet after 2-3 seconds. It is otherwise a wonderful machine and a pleasure to drive.

That is most likely the issue. I've had this on my older Audis. 4.2L and old passat 2.8 V6. Never on a 3.0T tho

This is the reason I just traded in my 2014. The dealer claims it's normal, but 10,000 miles or so later many have had serious engine issues that started with this sound. I'm out!
