Default quick question-what platform is the Q7 based on

Is it based on the B8 platform or what? I cannot find any details on this.

Gen 2 is on the MQB platform gen 1 is on the 4L platform shared with the touareg and cayenne.

Wheelbase is longer than either Touareg or Cayenne.

As B490MTL commented, it is the "4L" platform. Out of curiosity I looked on wikipedia and they refer to it as both the 4L and (internally?) the "PL71" platform for the Q7, Cayenne, and Touareg of similar vintages, though the Cayenne and Touareg got more substantial updates around the '10/'11 model year where sheet metal and wheelbases changed.

4L is what I'm used to seeing though if I'm looking for a Q7 part and that prefix tells me I'm at least seeing the right part series for the Q7.

Also there is a lot of parts with the 4F suffix because of the electronics shared with the A6.

Q7 does not have the low range gearbox like the earlier Touareg & Cayenne.
