Rear bumper/spoiler upgrade
We bought our 2008 CPO S-line with three known defects. The worst one looks like someone let their trailer get away from them and tore up a small section of the lower rear bumper half (I think Audi calls this a spoiler) and cover trim under it. Does anyone know if a 2010/2011 rear spoiler and associated adjacent trim pieces will fit directly to my 2008? I know it has to be painted to match and we'll likely be looking to take out a loan for the stainless tailpipes while I'm at it.
A photo of our 2008 and the newer model:
The damage:
2008 S-Line 3.6:
2011 S-Line TDI:
Dealer has no idea.....but I haven't pushed them. What do you think?

I asked the dealer same question. They didnt know. They look like they would have the same tabs etc but couldnt get a definitive answer or price. The 2011 S line rear bumper cover is Incredible looking. Maybe someone else could pipe in.

Yes, the 2010/2011 will fit.. it's a direct swap. I swapped out the lower spoiler on my 2009 S-line with the 2011 S-line rear spoiler. It's a perfect fit. The most difficult part was removing the old spoiler... there are some little plastic clips that were a total pain. I finally just gave up preserving the old lower spoiler and started cutting the clips. In your case since the old one is damaged already and destined for the gargage you shouldn't have any problems.

And here are the part numbers you need. I tossed in the exhaust tips as well just in case you want them (I think they only fit the 3.2 and TDI.. but i could be wrong.) I also added the new 2010/2011 tail lights.. so my Q7 now has a 2010/2011 rear.

Does it not also use some kind of protection plate like the one on my car?
Did the sensors just pop out of the old spoiler and snap into the new one?
Are these straight up prices from the dealer or did you get them somewhere else?
Where did you have the spoiler painted and how much did that cost?
Are the exhaust tips just a slip-on cover or are they entire pieces that bolt on further under the car?
Sorry for all the questions.....I want to get this going. What else do I need to know? The new design really is a much nicer detail. While I'm at it the hitch is going to get a custom tuneup. We may never need it because I have plenty of trucks but I hate how far it sticks out and the dorky chain tabs hanging below. My hitch vendor will make it much less visible.

That's the answer I was looking for! It made sense to me just by looking at it and I'm glad someone else was thinking like that. So these pesky plastic clips are part of the spoiler so I can scrap the old one and be good to go with the new one?
The new assembly is just two pieces?

The spoiler is just two piece.. the spoiler and the little mesh insert. The grey part is simply the base color... when you have it painted make sure they know not to paint that part.
Those were the prices from http://www.audionlineparts.com. Local dealer prices might vary.
I took the spoiler down to my local body shop that specialized in Audi's and they painted it up for about $200. perfect match
Yes, the sensors just pop out of the old spoiler and into the new one.
Exhaust tips just slip on (very securely)
Good luck modifying the hitch.... it's one very solid chunk of metal.
Cheers and good luck.

I picked them up at http://www.audionlineparts.com as well. They are "plug and play"... but you do need to swap out the control module with the new model. Everything just plugs in... no rewiring, etc.. so it just takes a bit of money and an afternoon out in the garage to swap things out. I also added the 2010/2011 S-Line grill to the front bumper. Turned out great. I was planning on also swapping out the front headlights and bumper to the 2011 model but the new headlights require so many different parts that it was getting to pricey and we ended up liking the look of the 2009 bumper with the 2011 grill. I did all this the week we purchased our car... my wife wanted a 2011 but we found a loaded (B&O, air susp, lux, etc) 2009 TDI with 9k miles on it and it was even Ibis white (which was the 2010/2011 color... 2009 Q7's were Calla white(off white)... the price was right so we grabbed it but my wife asked if i could upgrade the look to the 2010/11.
