remove rear seats and 3rd row in Q7 for car camping?
I am trying to decide whether or not to remove my 2nd and 3rd row seats for a road trip where I might sleep in the car sometimes. I found a youtube video for the 2nd row but it's a bit scketchy.
Has anyone done this? It would give me much more room in the car for gear/bikes. I could do without but if it's easy, it would be better.
Also to remove 3rd row... how?
found this but also not detailed

The other option is just leave it all in there...
thanks!

not worth it
losing the flat rear storage by removing the seats won't gain you any appreciable space, yes I have removed my seats once. just go out and buy a mercedes sprinter instead!

I never removed the seats, but might do it this winter. With the seats folded flat there is no storage. I have just sort of moved my gear all around and to the front seats. If I remove the seats and put in platform, I can store stuff where the folded flat seats were.
I would love a sprinter! Give me the $ and I will be happy to buy one. Starting at 57,400 for a MB 4x4 cargo van!

Rooftents are thousands of dollars. I have used one and they are not that great. I just pitch a tent next to the car. It's almost as fast, way cheaper, lower (less wind), and you can leave the tent and drive away for the day.
I really need to be low profile to sleep in parking lots, and inside so I stay dry even in a crazy storm.

When we have to haul a lot of gear we use hitch mounted cargo rack and or a roof rack. Depending on where you are camping I can see being in the car being preferred for both climate and safety. If neither concerns you one of those mini tent trailers might handy. They aren't too expensive and make it a quick setup and keeps you off the ground.
