They are giving me a loaner. Particulate filter part needs to come from Germany. May take a week or more. SA says particulate filter typically checked at 120k miles, so this is early. I said that I've seen other folks (i.e. here) talk about this as an early issue. He says oxygen sensor is more typically first thing to pop up.

I asked whether particulate filters could be changed more pro-actively. They say my style of driving (i.e. short local trips - especially in winter, car doesn't warm up) is contributing to the issue. Not much I can do with my daily commute to the pool. :-)

This all sounds plausible. Short drives don’t allow enough time and heat to complete dpf regeneration.
We drive ours on most of our longer trips. Hopefully we will avoid this. I have heard the cooling fans run after shutdown from a short trip. Indicates an incomplete dpf regen.

Good fuel mileage. Throttle response improved. Is that connected? No idea. Maybe they did a throttle body reset.

I also had a CEL light came on couple months ago. It was an oxygen sensor on the passenger side went bad. The dealership replaced under warranty. They also mentioned that CEL on have 2 kinds. One is on steady and the other is on and flashing. On and flashing is more serious situation and needs prompt care. Mine is steady on so I wait for an appointment to do it.

My CEL has come on three different times since the "fix". Each time I've cleared the DTC's with the Vag-Com unit and it runs again without a CEL for many weeks. When it does come back on, it's after a bunch of in town low rpm driving.

If you're curious, this is the readout of the last time the CEL came on:

Funny. I had forgotten how long the warranty was. 40k or 50k? I did look it up (50k/5 year) when I came home last night with 39,949 on the clock and a 55 mile drive to the dealer. I am happy to get this fixed under warranty.

Interestingly they said the little-black-square door lock button/mechanism on the passenger side was ‘out’. $500 to repair. Since I never lock from the passenger side, I had never noticed. Frankly, I use the fob to lock. But, I also asked why warrantee wouldn’t cover that? They are checking.

The loaner 2018 Q7 with Driver Assistance package is interesting. First time using DAP. Jury still out.

I don't know that I would worry about the touch-sensitive door handle. In my experience, it is just going to fail again. Additionally, it isn't something that has a large impact on the overall functionality of the vehicle, so why bother throwing good money after bad?

I had my front passenger door handle replaced under warranty during the float period of the settlement back in 2017. At this point, it is the only handle that works consistently on the car (it worked then like the rest work now!). I have just adopted the habit of actuating the locks using the fob or, occasionally, just using the flip key.

Oh, and if you're talking about the 'fix' warranty, a simple interpretation is that it only covers emissions system and anything related to CEL illumination (e.g., drivetrain items).

No... in my view, the regular warranty should cover the door handle fix.

Oh, yes. If you are still under original warranty, then yes, it should. I'm at 81,000 miles on mine, so well outside of that.

This was fun last week, though....

Well, I guess not. It acts like I can upload photos to insert in posts.... but apparently not.

Hi, I had an oxygen sensor error code came out last August. After took it in to check and replace the sensor. It has been warning-less until now. The same sensor error code come out.
I just took the car back to the dealership.
Anybody had the same issue?

Since the VW Diesel "Fix", the following error codes have popped up intermittently. I clear the DTC's and they stay away for many miles and a long time (over 4 months since the last one) before reappearing - at which point I clear them again. So far, so good.
