May be able to get a good deal on one without parktronic, although I originally very much wanted one with. What are your thoughts on this big beast without it? Thanks!

I have parktronic now, and can't imagine living with it.
Maybe that just means i'm a poor driver in confined spaces?
I did used to drive a big Ram Sport without parking assist and that was relatively easy to get around because of the good visibility.

The same way I have maneuvered every car I've had so far...
by learning the size of it. I personally can't stand parktronic. My mother-in-law to be has it in her Cayenne (front and rear) and all it seems to do is beep. Pulling out of the garage, beeps. Into the garage, beeps. Parking lot, beeps. I think I will continue to rely on my own judgement.

I agree 100% . The rear camera coupled with the acoustic sensors are great.
They make parallel parking more or less of a breeze. They're good enough that I've been considering how/if I could retrofit OEM front sensors.

terrible
i'm pretty good at maneuvering cars, the TT is easy to park cause it's small, but it's really round so kinda hard to judge. the Q7 is a disaster for me, maybe i just suck at judging it, but i've hit two cars backing up cause i couldn't judge the distance. the Q7 is kinda round as well, so figuring out the distance can be tricky. i wish i had the parktronic!

My driveway is on a hill and I usually back the car in, so it is a must for me so I don't hit the ..
GTI or PT Cruiser that is usually there. It's hard to see rearward especially on hills. I guess if I didn't have it, I would be more or less guessing where the other cars are since the rear of the Q is higher and wider than both other cars we have.

It's all about knowing your vehicle and skill using your mirrors.
We're not driving 18 wheelers or box vans and they certainly don't have electronic aids. Has anyone ever driven with a trailer? Know your vehicle, practice helps immensely.

Oh, I know. I'm just saying that's it's a nice convenience to have. I'm sure I could do without it. Most of the time I back into spots and don't even look at the screen.
