There really is no reason at all for those black caps on the front drains, they do nothing but catch debris and clog.

anyone reading this who has not checked their front drains should do it asap they are almost certainly clogged.
I checked mine before I did the roof drain repair. They were not clogged at all, but I agree, the black plastic thing should just be removed, its a waste of time having it there.

I guess you should check these drains if you park under or near trees often. I don't, so mine weren't clogged. In fact, mine were dry and clean after 11 years!.

Default Adding info to a very useful old thread...

I thought I would give back to the forum after years of using the very useful experiences and fixing advice. So the never ending leaking sunroof saga on, in my case, an Audi Q7 2006. Lots of water in the front passenger (r/hand drive car as in UK) foot well and in boot spare wheel. All seat belts wet. Not good in the UK when it rains a fair bit! I glued the drain connectors to the hoses but that didn't stop the leaking. A year later and I have now taken the roof liner out and can see exactly where it is leaking. The front two drain hoses were blocked but this wasn't the main problem. Cleared blocked drain hoses with compressed air and blew out the sunroof drains too. It still leaks and this is because the actual drain channel/unit leaks!! See pictures. I glued up all of the leaking seams with expanding glue that reacts to moisture and this should hopefully sort it out.

One in each corner of the sun roof where the drain hose connects to.

Before the fix...

After....

I glued up all four and the connectors to the drain.
