Default Turn Signal Problem

I have a problem in my 2010 Q7 where the left turn signal does not go on when the stalk is pushed downwards. It was working intermittently, and then only when you pushed down with more force than usual, and now not at all. All of the lamps work on the left side when I turn the hazard lights on, so it's not a bulb issue. I've read other posts regarding turn signal issues but nothing I saw is exactly like this. Can anyone suggest what the cause might be?

Does your turn signal stalk clicks properly when you push it down and unclicks when you turn the steering the opposite way?

Yes, it functions correctly in that regard.
