Default Vent slat out of place

Hey all,

Do you think this vent slat can be repaired? It seems to be loose on the back of the slat. It does move up and down, but seems out of place. I tried bending it back down in the rear, but it didn't snap into place. I didn't want to push real hard and break it. Anyone have any experience with this?

there is a metal clip on both sides (iirc) of the vent behind the vanes. they are scalloped and a pin sits in every other slot (iirc). you need to clip it back into the correct slot and it will back to normal. a new vent is something like $135 or so.

I had that same vent disintegrate on my 2013. The vanes are just held in by flimsy little plastic "nubs" & once they come loose it's practically impossible to reseat them.
My dealer replaced mine under warranty, otherwise I think the part was a little over $200.
On the positive side, if you're not under warranty, they are very easy to replace. They just pull straight out (trim tool makes it easy). I seem to remember there was some sort of electrical connector in there, but it just unplugs. It's an easy DIY job if you can get the part cheaper online.

This like Cadx6 said it is real easy, below is the procedures.

What make this vent so expensive is the lighting connecter for the turn ****.

You can go to Audi wholesale parts on line they have one for 140.00.

Thanks for posting that alldata pdf. I'll have to try and pop it back. I can't believe the new part costs so much. I couldn't find any used ones on ebay though.

before you replace it, you can attempt to fix it yourself. all you need is a decent hook and pick set along with a flashlight. if you gently pry up the aluminum bezel you will get enough room to adjust the vane and click it back onto the rail that guides it.

Cool. I ordered the hook tools from my local snap on guy, so maybe I can get to it this weekend.
