VIN on the fenders?

VIN on the fenders?
I had a high mileage 3.0 S-Line inspected that I was considering to purchase. The Carfax shows no accidents but one thing in the report that was noted is the VIN was not on the front two fenders which is indicative of them being replaced. I have actually never looked or noticed this on any vehicle. Do the Audi's have the VIN stamped on the fenders?
