Would you buy a high mileage '09 3.0 TDI?
There's one a couple hours away, but has 189,xxx miles on it. I didn't think about the "dieselgate" issue until I stumbled on it this morning. Do they re-flash these and basically neuter them? If so, will an aftermarket tune put it back to beast mode? Can these diesels go the distance? Anything in particular to these q7's I should be weary about with that kind of mileage? I was wanting the diesel pretty bad, now I'm a little worried about it and might consider the 4.2, more research to be done. Thanks for any info/advice!

Some of the 3.0tdi had problems with the inlet manifold flaps either sticking or dropping off and causing internal engine damage - I think this is limited to the BUG code engines and some also had lubrication issues - shells sticking to the journal etc... then throwing a rod. I am not sure what engine codes to avoid but maybe none of those went to the US so it could all be dependant on how much the car is.
My 4.2tdi now has 143k miles and it still drives very well.
