Default Yokohama Advan Sport tires on your 21" Q7 Wheels

Just picked up a Q7 and purchased OEM 21" Peelers for it. As you all know buying tires for that size is a headache to say the least. I've done research on all the brands out there and have read past posts on forums here. But there seems to be nothing on the Yokohamas in terms of personal experiences. New they are around $340/ea on tire rack but used with 80-90% tread can be had at a bargain...

So the question is, how are they? Based on tire rack reviews people say they are sporty, etc. Some complain about tire noise. Granted most of those reviews were from a Nissan 370Z owners as that was the OEM tire for it.

My end game is to give up and spend $1400 on Continental DWS 295-35-21 i hear very good things about that tire and it's all season.

Default I can only comment on the prada sec x 20"s

They are fine but I prefer the Pirelli scorpions on my other set of wheels. For lack of a better term the Yokohama's seem to be geared for ride not handling and road feed back. I don't know if this is the design of the tire or the design philosophy of Yokohama as a company.

yea i wouldnt want that. In my experience if a particular tire is cheaper, there is a reason. Although new, yokos cost same as conti, pirelli, michellin.

I may fork out the extra money and get the Conti DWS all season tires. Can anyone chime in how long i can expect them to last?

main complaint from doing some research is short tread life. Some whiners will say its noisy. Main consensus i gather is that for the price, the pirellis and Michelin are much better.

My main beef with a summer time in 295/35/21 is the high price for a very short tread life, as compared to an all season tire.

check out the Conti DWS when you reach that road. It's pretty much the only option for 21s that is brand name, but fortunately it's a very good option. I had it on my A6 when i lived in NYC and didn't have any issues in snow. 2x tread life as compared to summer tire also. Just a smart investment all around

Excellent in both aspects. Only time i got stuck was when the belly of the A6 sat on the high snow, but i got myself out of that one as well.

When I was looking at the DWS in the 20" size, I was warned that the sidewalls tend to be softer, and with the Q7 being so heavy, it wasn't ideal. I don't know if the 21" version is the same construction, especially the newer DWS06 version, but just a heads up. If I had 21"s I would go for them however, since there aren't that many options and you at least get a 6year/50k treadwear warranty. Just don't expect them to handle as well as summer tires. I hear for an all-season, they're great on snow when new.
