TDI Buyback Status

Have not seen a lot of posts regarding people exercising the buyback opportunity for those of us in that category. I plan to keep mine until late 2018, but was wondering, just out of curiosity, the number of people who exercised the option already and those waiting until next year. 50:50? More selling early? More planning to wait? Again, just curious. I rarely see a TDI under the buyback program any more in my area.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but for those of us with a Gen1 Q7 TDI, we have until September 30, 2019 to exercise our buyback option.

I'm going to wait until at least next year, maybe 2019 to sell my TDI back to Audi...unless I get a real good deal between now and then on a new Q7 or a stop sale 2015 TDI.

I know it is 2019, but not sure of the actual date. Given there are been little response, as well as the fact that most Audi dealers are clueless on the turn in process, I'm guessing most people are doing the smart thing and waiting until next year to maximize the value, especially if you don't drive many miles and the value will increase.

My 2011 Q7 Daytona gray prestige S-Line goes back next week. I made the mistake of looking to see what's for sale and found a 2015 Q7 3.0T Daytona gray S-Line with the "Sport Edition" option. This option adds the V12 TDI body kit, air suspension, adaptive cruise, carbon fiber inlays, red calipers, heated rear seats, extended leather, 21" wheels and black optic package. I've seen pictures of the V12 body kit but never any in person. I told the wife to take a look at it since it was for sale locally. She loved it, made a deal and bought it.
It kills me to turn in my faithful TDI but I am a little nervous about something happening to it and losing the buy-back. It's been super reliable but with 168k miles you never know. And amazingly with the buy-back the 2015 was almost an even trade.

I love the V12 body kit. Please send us some more pics when you get it home.

Gen 1 owners have until June 1st 2019 i think to put in a claim. Have until Sept 30 to sell back.

As long as you dont drive more than 1250 miles per month, your buyback wont decrease. In some instances it will increase.

There is a super extensive super long thread on this in this very same forum.

We are planning to drive our 2011( currently at 117000 miles) until late next year. It has < 10,000 miles on new tires and brakes and I had the trans fluid replaced last Dec. it would seem silly to turn it in without getting full use of those investments. It has been the most trouble free vehicle we have owned. We will likely drive it more than the allowed 1250 miles per month but the penalty is not great as I read it.

I hope I can find a nice 2015 TDI to replace it when we do turn it in.

We just dropped our 2011 Prestige off. My wife almost cried...until she remembered that she was driving home in her 2013 Q7 Prestige S Line. We dropped it off with 199,973 miles. We had to budget the miles carefully these last two months!!!
