'17 test drive
I had the opportunity to take a '17 Q7 for a fairly extended test drive and I'm quite impressed. It feels very close to my A6 as far as the overall driving experience is concerned, which is a good thing. The weight loss over the gen 1 version is noticeable and the car does not feel heavy in any way. It felt like it is just the right size in that it is substantial but not bloated. Ride quality was very good in dynamic mode despite the 20" runflat tires. The steering feel was very good. The seats were great and and execution of the interior is excellent with the exception of 3rd row space, which is not very good. Ingress/egress is not too bad, but the back is really just for kids. Virtual cockpit is a neat feature, but I didn't have much time to play with it.
The car does look better in person than it does in pictures, but I wouldn't call it attractive and that's its biggest failing.
According to the Audi Canada rep, the earliest the TDI will appear is May at the moment, and could obviously be longer depending on how things play out.
Decisions, decisions.

My dealer let me know they will have a showroom demo in a week or two, with additional units available to drive in early January. It will be good to finally see one of these in the flesh.
