2.0T versus 3.0T
Does 2.0T engine has enough power for everyday use? Its going to be a family car with only 4 of us riding it most of the time. Is it worth spending additional 5K to get 3.0T? I am thinking of getting a premium plus with vision, drivers assistance, cold weather and 20'' wheels. Outside of the engine, is there anything else that I will miss by not getting a 3.0T? The only cosmetic thing I noticed is the decorative inlay which is silver in 2.0T versus high gloss in 3.0T which is a bummer but doesn't justify spending extra $$ unless I am missing something else? Thanks!

Everyone likes to say that the 2.0 is faster than the previous gen 3.0, but the first 10 MPH are full of lag in the 2.0 IMO, if you're doing a lot of city or stop and go traffic OR if you're towing it will be too small for the mass of the Q7.

It's a subjective decision. Personally, I value the 3.0 upgrade far above any of the other option in the Q7. If it were me, I would much rather own a base model 3.0 than a comparably priced Q7 with 2.0 and other options. That said, my wife is the primary driver of our Q7 and she was oblivious to the differences in driving dynamics and feel when comparing both engines.

Below is a post I made last week in another thread in regards to my experience testing driving both. And as another member said in that same thread, you can't really go wrong with either..
There is nothing wrong with the 2.0 and I am sure that with each year Audi will continue to fine tune it, but just make sure you give it a thorough test drive.. I have yet to read on the forum of someone buying a 3.0 and regretting not getting the 2.0.. Yet there are a handful of people that have regretted not getting the 3.0 after owning the 2.0 for a little while.
I initially test drove a 2.0 and was pleasantly surprised on how well I felt it moved the Q7.. I still wasn't sure so approx 2 weeks later I test drove it again and was about to work on a deal when my wife insisted I drive a 3.0.. Knowing how I am her feeling was I was going to eventually regret not getting the 3.0, and if I ever drove a loaner with the 3.0 she was never going to hear the end of it..
I was a little reluctant because the salesman warned us "if you drive the 3.0 you'll buy the 3.0", and at the time all I was seeing was the add'l savings.. Well he was right.. Drove the 2.0 and 3.0 back to back and within 5 mins of driving I could feel how much more refined the 3.0 made the Q7 feel..
Drove it approx 30 mins and there was less noise and it just felt better overall, and then when you put your foot down IMO there is no comparison. The 3.0 feels smoother and as expected moves the Q7 with a lot less effort..
Drove back to the dealer and bought the 3.0 that day..

I was afraid the 2.0T wouldn't be enough engine for the Q7, but when I drove it I was pleasantly surprised and bought it. I suggest you give it a test drive to see for yourself. If the engine feels like it lags, a quick shift into S should help a ton. I drive in S at all times for the more aggressive shift points.

I had a 2017 A6 with 2.0T, and that actually felt inadequate at times, i find myself putting the transmission in sport or "Dynamic" mode oftem. So I can't imagine what the 2.0T is like in the Q7. That being said, my 3.0T is pretty bare bones, I have PP W/O the vision package. As someone else mentioned above, i rather spend more on the engine upgrade than the features. I regret not getting the Vision package, but I will regret a lot more if I didn't get 3.0T.

Got back from a long trip in the Rocky mtns, and the 2.0L Turbo performed great at high altitude, course I don't mind using more than 1/10th throttle...
