Whoever designed and OK'ed this "2nd" gen Q7 should be fired. It is beyond hideous. So far I've seen photos in blue, white and daytona grey and it looks terrible in all the colors, but it looks the worst in the blue and that's the color that they chose for the reveal.

Group think at its worst...

I agree the design is not very appealing to my taste and looks, well just plain drab! I am glad I have my 2015 and hopefully Audi will do another redesign before I am ready to upgrade. If not, I will be forced to consider other brand options.

Listen to your owners Audi - The new exterior design is awful and your sales will suffer.

PS: I read the article about the possibility of an RS-Q7 which would be AWESOME. Unfortunately if it carries the new body style I will not be able to stomach owning one.

Excellent move on getting the 2015. Especially with how ugly the 2nd gen is. You've got the pinnacle of the 1st gen Q7 with all the reliability and improvements that comes with a model that has been around since 2007. Jalopnik says that the 1st gen Q7 is the most reliable Audi model.

Long-Term Quality: The Audi Syndrome

I personally have the 2011 and love it. It's a pleasure to drive every day, and I still get comments and stares everywhere I go. That says a lot about how well the exterior design was executed when people still ooh and ahh over a car that came out in 2007. I had planned on trading the 2011 for a 2016 or 2017 (wait for Audi to iron out issues and let others beta test), but with the 2nd gen being so butt ugly, I'm sticking with my 1st gen. until Audi comes to their senses.

How quickly we forget. The original Q7 design was greatly ridiculed because of the "fish mouth" front grill treatment. Now everyone loves it. Virtually every time an enthusiasts car gets remodeled, it gets panned. You see it in the BMW forums, MB, etc. I'm just saying'...

The 2007 Q7 looks quite different than the last iteration of the 1st gen Q7, especially when Audi introduced the s-line version, which is the most attractive. The same will happen with the 2nd gen and things will probably get better via minor face lifts, but there's one big difference this time. The 2nd gen Q7 is less like a SUV, and is more like a crossover/wagon. That look/style may never appeal to a certain segment no matter how many times it is face-lifted.

Lastly, there's no amount of time that will ever make me love or even like the current design of the 2nd gen Q7. It's hideous to me. I didn't love the original 1st gen Q7, but it was NEVER hideous to me.
