If you look at the build dates, and the 2017 build is a few weeks before a 2018, then i would not be concerned about reliability differences. If you look at 2017s vs 2018s as a whole, I expect the 2018s will be more reliable.

I'd price out a 2018 you want (color/features) and see what you can get for an order (probably ~5% off MSRP) and then decide how much less you're willing to pay for that 2017. If you're not fussy on color/options you can also see what they'd give you a 2018 on lot for.
But below invoice and no wait is a good deal regardless. I'm guessing most posters here did custom orders on new vehicles and waited ~4 months to get it.
