2017 v. 2018?
My wife picked out a 2018 Lexus GX and we both hate it. I know I知 going to take a hit trading it in for a Q7 so I知 considering a CPO 2017 Q7. Talk me into a brand new 2018 Q7. What are the major differences? I am a gadget freak so tech is important.
thanks!

The Q7MKII is a great car, I would delay your trade for 19, I have a 17 and suffered a few early build issues, we took delivery in April 2016. All Q7 MkII issues are well documented on this Forum. No Audi is as reliable as a Lexus. I would strongly recommend waiting for the latest update with the 2019 model year if you plan to hold to your car. We have a 2019 ordered. I expect a lot less hassle with a 19. This forum has been invaluable trouble shooting issues. The 18's have lot less issues I believe.

So far as I know, there no difference between a 2017 model manufactured after 1/1/2017 and a 2018 model. Thought the Bose sound system was an option in 2017 Premium Plus but a standard in 2018 Premium Plus.

I've had a 2017 for a little over a year, it has a Feb 2017 build date and has been rock solid.. Only issue was a software update for the cameras..
I've owned several Lexus vehicles over the years and have always liked them, we considered a GX twice but my wife hates the way the rear cargo (barn) door opens.. The GX is nice but IME the Q7 is on another level.. BTW, what do you and your wife hate about it?

Differences between 17 and 18 are pretty minor. Personally I would just take one that was either cheaper or had less miles on it or a longer warranty (pick your preference) assuming they were similarly equipped. Or just pick based of the features/color combo (whatever is important to you) I would not worry about the model year.

You'll likely get a better deal on a new 2018 versus a CPO 2017. Thats just how it usually works

While we are probably on the tail end of the quality bell curve, we have a 2017 that has been an absolute disaster. 98 Days in service (so far) with only 2100 miles, and it has a whole laundry list of issues. VW (not Audi) finally stepped up to buy it back. If you decide to go the CPO route, I would take a good look at the vehicle's service history for repeat or uncommon problems. I would also check into your state's used car lemon law...just in case.

I am still trying to find out exactly what happened. The Audi customer service lady I got was very difficult to work with - telling me that my pictures and videos of intermittent problems (door handle lock / unlock not working, pre-sense engaging randomly with nothing nearby) were not proof of defects unless the dealer can reproduce them at the time I drop the vehicle off. The dealer actually refused to try to diagnose some of our issues because of this direction from her. When she refused my buyback request (meeting all 3 criteria for a Texas Lemon Law claim when only 1 is necessary), she wouldn't tell me why. When I asked to escalate, she refused - claiming that she was the ONLY person within all of VW that could handle my case and that I should just take it back to the dealer for service or trade it in if I didn't like it. It didn't matter to her that the dealer service manager was telling me that after 4 attempts and working with an Audi field service engineer, they just couldn't fix another issue. I tried contacting Audi customer service again to talk to someone else, but got no response. Around day 90 in the shop we were just waiting to get our vehicle back to engage a lawyer when I got a call from a SUPER NICE lady from VW saying they were offering to buy it back. Since then she has been very responsive and helpful with all the paperwork. It is possible the dealer helped behind the scenes, but I won't know for sure until I turn it in.
