My drive to work is 18 miles one way - about 80% of it is 70-80 MPH. I have also taken several long trips in each - have never had to add oil between service.
My 2018 Q7 has 7500 miles on the odo, and it currently reads 50%. This is the first time I've seen 50% in all the years driving a 3.0SC. Might be the 4400 mile road trip we took last summer, which was mostly high-speed highway.

My 2c. 2018 Q7 3.0 needed top up from add a pint back to original 1/2 a dipstick. at 2800mi.
Multiple Volvos, a Chevy van with 90,000 and 5 Saab 900 Turbos never needed oil BUT none of them had electronic dip sticks, so I may just be suffering from oblivion, since I confess to never checking.
Question is, in an engine that needs 8 qts for change, how hazardous is one pint low really? At what point does an engine actually suffer from inadequate lubrication?

Oil capacity of an engine is based on multiple factors and not necessarily based on engine itself. If turbos use oil for lubrication and heat dissipation, oil capacity is going to be increased. Pint may not be a problem, quart may not necessarily be a problem either, but it really depends on your driving style and what are you doing at that moment. If you are quart down and are heavy towing over mountains for prolong period of time, it may not be so good for engine and other components.

I recently received a warning for low oil and to add 1qt. I was worried about it when it happened on a Saturday and didn't drive until the following Monday when I took it into Audi Service. The guy at the service department acted like being a quart at 4K miles was not a big deal and to expect it with this Q7 oil change being every 10k.
I then asked if it's expected for this car to use 2 qts between the regular oil changes and he said "it's possible". Now I'm thinking that I haven't had to add oil to any new car that I've owned in the last 30 years. This is my first Audi and it doesn't seem right to me. I'm keeping a close eye on it now and will continue to monitor before it's first oil change come due. I would like to know anyone's thought on this as I have seen a few posts ( not many ) regarding oil consumption.

I had a very similar experience. At 3-4K miles, the oil light <level, not pressure) in my new Audi Q7 goes on and I add a quart of oil. When I asked the service manager (Audi Stevens Creek in San jose, CA) he said, "Using 2-3 quarts of oil every 10k miles is well within Audi's specification.
Here what is the online chat agent just said,

Thank you for the information. One moment while I look into this further.

Thank you for your patience. I do see here that in your owners manual on page 322 that your vehicle will consume half a quart every 600 miles depending on driving conditions. Consumption may be higher during the first 3000 miles"
I'm stunned.

Our 2018 Q7 consumed 1 liter of oil after the first 6,700 miles. My other car is a 2014 BMW 550 which consumes 1 liter every 2,000 miles like clockwork, I'll be interested to see if the Audi is as consistent or if the rate changes overtime.
