Which one I should believe....
If it was me I would believe the MMI over what the phone shows.

At the start of a 2000 mile trip the MMI showed oil quantity down 1/2. I figured I would need to add a quart by the time I got home, but now the MMI is showing down only 1/4 which makes me wonder about the accuracy of this system.

Me too - 3.0 - 2800 miles - apparently SOP for German cars. I was told to get a large bottle and expect to use it. Found Mobil 1, Euro spec 0W-40 5qt for $32.00 at Pep Boys and plan to carry a few pints around in Gator-aid bottles.- basically, is you want a car that's easy to live with and costs 50%, buy a Toyota or Honda. But it doesn't feel the same. Wish it did.
OTOH salesman said they never had to add oil to loaners. But most salesmen are poor sources of information and ignore you once sale is completed.

What is your driving pattern? Short or long trips, Force 1?

I believe Audi recommends Castrol Edge for the Q7, perhaps because thats the factory fill and what they use at the dealers

14k on our 3.0 and never needed to add oil...mostly around town stop and go driving with some highway...luv this engine.
We did look at another new 3.0 q7 before ordering ours and there was a pronounced knocking coming from the engine, dealer took it off the lot and called AOA

Understood - just harder to find. Service tech was thrilled to recommend Mobil 1.

Interesting. What milage do you get? Ever use regular instead of Premium? Owner's manual actually says it's OK.

My drive to work is 18 miles one way - about 80% of it is 70-80 MPH. I have also taken several long trips in each - have never had to add oil between service.

My 2018 Q7 has 7500 miles on the odo, and it currently reads 50%. This is the first time I've seen 50% in all the years driving a 3.0SC. Might be the 4400 mile road trip we took last summer, which was mostly high-speed highway.
