Here what is the online chat agent just said,

Thank you for your patience. I do see here that in your owners manual on page 322 that your vehicle will consume half a quart every 600 miles depending on driving conditions. Consumption may be higher during the first 3000 miles"

I'm stunned.
fwiw, I've never had to add any oil in 16k with one change

Just added another quart at 35,000 miles. It's been consistent for us, adding a quart at 5,000 in between oil changes every 10K.
We do a lot of city type driving here in LA, with hills.
Personally, I think with modern computers in cars, it would make more sense to change oils every XXX hours the engine is running. Our 10k miles might work the engine 2X or even 3X the hours than someone else who does mostly highway driving to get the same 10K miles.

No sig oil consumption after 1800 mile cross country drive. Gas mileage was 20-21, reg or premium. Disappointing. Only slightly better than road mileage on 3 ton Chevy van with 5.2L v8.

Always get the low oil warning about 6 to 7k after an oil change and when it was brand new

my oil was getting to the low end of normal with around 3500 miles after purchase. I topped it off. Now at around 6000, it went down one tick below max.

I assume this is normal for this vehicle

Brought it to dealer today, they topped me off and told me to expect 3000 miles per quart living here in SF.

2nd pint at 5500 miles, first at 2874. I'm glad to see that lots of oil options available at Walmart these days.

Now if they could just engineer camera washers.....

What have you ended up buying? (brand and viscosity)
