2019 X5 and New GLE - Q7 Competition
I think BMW did a really nice job on this inside and out. I will reserve final appraisal of the new grille until I see it in the flesh, as it may be a bit too large, but Audi's are huge by comparison.
Also very impressive review of new MB GLE even as a prototype (will be a 2020, 2019 model skipped)

Base price of the all new X5 is supposed to be $61k, if so a nicely equipped one should be in the $70's like many well equipped 3.0 Q7's and I think the Q8 will be well into the $80's or more, similarly equipped. Don't think the Q7 is roomier than the new larger X5, I believe even the current X5 has more storage space (Q7's third row is also essentially useless).

That new X5 seems nice but not amazing. Why are they making such a big deal out of NFC entry when it's less convenient than a normal proximity key fob? And their built-in infotainment when Android Auto/CarPlay are so far ahead? It does seem to have a proper extended leather package but Q7 is supposed to finally get that in the US for 2019 also.

Because you can instantly make 5 extra keys via an app for other members of the family etc. Scrolling touch screen is also very nice, as is the quilted leather, starlight roof etc. Never been an X5 fan but this one will be something to check out. They should be here in about 90 days to see in the flesh.

I have to admit that BMW has done an amazing job with revamping the X5. It has received a cleaner look inside and more attractive look outside.
Can't wait for the updated Q7 but I think its just Audi-typical minimalist facelift.
