3.0 TDI
Hi Guys,
In Europe the Q7 has a 3.0 TDI engine that gets 31 to 42 mpg. The Q7 does 0-100 km in 6.3 seconds. Those are great #'s.
Is there confirmation of when the 3.0 TDI will finally make it's way to the US.
The reason I ask is I am trying to decide if I want to lease or buy.
Thanks,
Geoff

UK mpg is different than US mpg because of different definitions of what a gallon is.
Convert Miles Per Gallon (UK) to Miles Per Gallon (US)

VW/Audi/Porsche will not be selling 3.0l TDI's in North America ever again. As a result of the Dieselgate lawsuits, VWAG was forced by CARB and the EPA to invest billions into electric vehicle technology. Now European cities have started to ban diesel cars from their cores. I hope that Audi will bring the 8cyl, diesel SQ7 to North America, but I doubt it.

I have the more powerful 3.0 TDI (272) and in US gallons I get 20mpg around town and 31mpg motorway driving at 80mph.
Not bad but not close to the 40mpg it's supposed to be able to do! Perhaps driving at 50mph 2 yards behind a truck may get you close

If any TDI engine is going to make its way back to the North American markets it'll be in a Q7; but dont hold your breath.. all indications from VAG over the last few years are that Turbo Diesels are a thing of the past.. but who knows whats really in store.
13-15 MK1 Q7's can still be had with the last gen 3.0L TDI allowed in NA markets, they can be chiptuned to output some seriously impressive numbers (340hp/530tq).. but you wont see any MPG improvements w/out removing emissions equipment and thats not an option in any emissions testing locality.

Audi CEO did mention in few articles that they are still considering bringing the Audi Q7 TDI to the USA soon so its not out of question. VW on the other hand will not resume diesel sales in usa.
