Default 44 mpg with Audi Q7

As I previously said, Q7 has potential to reach 44 mpg (5.4 l/100km) with "efficiency mode". And it did it, in fact, quite easily. What more, I was even expecting a bit higher mpg, because Q7 settled on 5.4 l/100km for at least last 20km of the trip. So I expected every last meter 5.3 l to show up. But they didn't. But I feel that potential is there.
Compared to "auto mode", "efficiency mode" coasts a lot. If in "auto mode" Q7 starts to reduce speed 400m before speed limit zone, in "efficiency mode" it does it 600m -800m before, depending on topography. Very rarely uses brakes. In fact, I like it, very interesting driving style.
Among all 4x4 SUVs, Q7 stands out as the most versatile car, it can go fast, it can go offroad, and if you want, it can do 44 mpg on highway. Perfect.

Are you trusting the onboard computer or using hand calculations to verify?

I've found the computer to report about 10% optimistic. (40mpg is still great though).

I would say yes.
I got in this consumption and efficiency driving more deeply lately.
On Saturday I filled in 35l for my experiment and did with that 630 km.
I did on Saturday-Sunday 140 km with average 5.4 l/100km (44mpg) and yesterday drove from Riga to Estonia (Suure Munamäe) and back (490 km) and had average 5.6 l/100km (42mpg) for this trip. So in general error is close to 0.
What can I say, if driving fully flat land, 44mpg is not a problem at all, if road is a bit hilly (with elevation not more than 250-300m), then 42mpg is the ceiling.

Does Start/Stop of engine kick in while in motion in Efficiency Mode?

No.
It seems to me, that in general efficiency mode differs from other modes with more speed fluctuations.
For example, if driving in auto mode, speed will fluctuate max +/-1km/h.
In efficiency mode if speed limit is 90 km/h, and car goes downhill, it starts to coast and allows speed to drop to 83 km/h, then it switches back to gear and starts to accelerate back to 90 km/h. So I override it to 97 km/h in order not to go bellow 90 km/h and be in line with others.
Efficiency mode I would say is "coasting mode", but it never switches off the engine while coasting.

What is your long-term fuel consumption screen saying?

I will take a photo later, but it was recently dropped along with my other MMI settings by dealership, when they installed software updates.
For something like 2500 km it is something like 7.4 l/100km. But it is 80% traffic jam consumption.
