60,000 mile tires

My 2017 Q7 just hit 50,000 miles and I'm replacing the original tires before the Wisconsin snow flies. I still have plenty of tread, but not going to risk it.

I have the Goodyear Eagle Sport run flats and I think they're still good for another 10,000 miles.

Very impressed

Wisconsin Q7 10-27-2017 03:00 AM

Yes - everything on the car is still original.

To get that many miles in such a short period then there must have been a lot of freeway miles. Straight roads, low traffic volumes, minimum braking can easily get 60k miles.
I frequently see people braking on the freeway and it usually means that the driver is distracted because the driver could always let it coast and not brake at all.

Oh, I agree on driving style. My brakes last forever. But what you say makes sense about 60k in 1-2 years...one can easily go on the same tires and brakes.

60k on the tires? Geeze, almost 15k and the 20" runflats are getting real noisy here!

@ 22K mine my runtflats are still doing great!

@ Wisconsin Q7, are you going to replace them with the same runflat tires?

That's true. I've never had tires go that far, but I've also never had all highway cruising miles

it really has everything to do with your driving habits.
my car was a 2013 Q5 bought brand new. and i live in nyc drive about 40 50 mile commute for work. half highway half city. i just dont like to slam on brakes and i never tailgate.

Hello,

Yes - very pleased with that product and no need to change. The shop (not an Audi dealership) doing them is charging me $1400 to replace. The Audi dealership wanted $2000.

My Mercedes "R" class had run flats and I loved them and got 50,000+ on those as well.

Yes - mostly highway for me.

Car just hit the 1 year mark and it has 50,000 miles on it.

It's been absolutely perfect and I love it almost as much as the Mercedes R class, which was perfect for me.
