Amber (Euro) turn signals
Does anyone know if US cars can be programmed for amber rear turn signals or if the euro rear lights are plug & play in us cars. Since the lights are LED, the ability for amber instead of red may already be in the lens

You will need to purchase EU spec taillights because NAR LED taillights are not capable of the amber color. then it should be simple coding, once coding for the 4M Q7 is available. The lights will plug right in just like your old ones did because essentially they are the same lights. one thing to note is the EU taillights are dynamic, meaning they sweep in the direction that you are turning, instead of flashing like the NAR spec. I don't know if you would need a special harness to get the dynamic effect. It should be just coding to enable it though. You could probably get your red NAR taillights to have the dynamic effect too.

Agreed. Amber much nicer, not at least as dynamic indicators. As far as I can tell, only the LED or Matrix LED option in Europe gives you the dynamic (sweeping) indicators rear, non-sweeping comes with the non-LED option front.
Check also this related post:
'Tinted Black Tail Lights - OEM S Line Europe'
To get sweeping indicators rear, I believe you need static-to-dynamic adapters too.
I plan to pick up a set + adapters back in DK/GER, and will post, if I manage.

Amber indicators so Kool !!!
Watched and read many reviews on this car before ordering.
Test drove car twice, stupidly didn't notice the indicators were any different.
After watching the video reviews again I now notice as the thread says, EU version has the awesome amber indications at the rear. Not in the US or Canada, boohooo !!!
Please advise how to change this anyone. . . . . .
Small part of the car but still . . . . .so disappointed.

you willing to bet on that.
it CAN be done and it HAS been done. I am one of the members on this forum that has done this and have amber DYNAMIC sweeping tail lights on my USA spec Q7
Essentially you need new tail lights (Euro spec) WITH dynamic light capability. They have non-dynamic euro tails as well so you need to be vigilant when buying. The US and EU non dynamic tails will be plug and play interchangeable (4 pin connector), but the EU dynamic tail lights has a 5 pin connector. You end up having to run that extra wire to your fuse box to get the sweeping turn to work
Most important of all, none of this will look right until the US spec Q7 is coded the EU lights setting. The coding decouples the turn signal strip lights from the brake light and they start acting independent of each other during brake and turn signal commands.
There is an extensive thread about it on this very own Q7 MK II Forum
