Anyone here considering trading their Q7 for the Q8?

I would have considered the Q8 but received a great deal on my current 2018 Q7. If the Q8 engine would have been closer to 375HP, I probably would have waited. By looking at the spec sheet, the Q8 is slower 0-60 by a couple of tenths. And equiped with the same options, the Q8 will cost 5k - 7k more.

I struggle to come up with reasons why the Q8 exists. I've seen nothing about it that makes me desire it over the Q7. I'm actually genuinely curious what folks who want the Q8 like more about it.

I do not find I use my 3rd row as much as I expected and as much as I like the q7, there is part of me that would prefer a more sporty oriented driving experience. Had they made the Q8 stand out from the Q7 in driving dynamics, then I think it would have opened up the market a bit more for it. However as many of us expected all drive reviews so far pretty much say it’s just like driving a Q7.

My '19 Q7 with BOP and the new for the US 22's will be here any time now, but because we don't lease/finance I may go for the Q8 as it should hold its value better than a '19 Q7 especially in the shorter term. If we end up disliking the Q8, we would trade it for the new facelifted Q7.

As you probably know, B only comes with the Year 1 package (s-line / BOP) which is a $2,650 option on either Prem+ or Prestige vs A which is a stand-alone option for $1,000.
I've seen them both in person and both are handsome, although B is certainly a sportier look, esp. when combined with the Y1 package.
The 21" 5-spoke-W design wheels that come standard on the P+ have grown on me (depending on the vehicle color) and, as my salesperson pointed out, have a slightly larger sidewall and will ride ride a little softer vs the 22's, if that's a concern for you.
Having said that, I don't think you can go wrong with either A or B - more a matter if you want the whole Y1 package with the s-line trim and black ops.
