I was struggling with that over the last few days as well; black optic or not with argus brown, since my build was still changeable. After photoshopping a few images and looking at various photos of argus brown, I've come to the decision that chrome/aluminum trim suits darker colors like argus brown better as it offers some contrasting details, particularly the lower door "blade" trim. On the other hand, black optics go better with lighter colors like white and silver. The only exception being black optics on a black car, for those who like the "murdered out" look. I do really like the titanium version of the 21" wheels though, and it's too bad that can't be ordered by itself separately.
So my argus brown will have the standard bright trim and all black interior. While I also considered a brown interior, I decided that may have been too much brown, and because I went with the luxury package, the cedar brown was a bit too light shade of brown even compared to nougat for my tastes. I figured the alcantara door panels and headliner will at least break up the all black interior.

As for the optics, I tend to agree with you, but I've seen a number of dakota gray A6's with the chrome and I feel like my black optics looks much cooler. But with the brown...yeah, I'm just not sure how that would look. Without seeing one, the chrome would definitely be the safer choice.
I am hoping to put my order in this week...just trying to make some final decisions and knock down the price a bit, but they aren't budging much.

As always, your mileage will vary but I have to say - Argus Brown rocks! And I have to say, the 20" graphite gray (or whatever wheels) look pretty good.

Looks great hcubed thanks for posting the pics! I am getting the same color combo in my A4 that is on order. I was going back and forth the last week on whether or not I should get the nougat brown interior, like LarryV, wondering if that would be too much. My salesman said beige would look great, but it's not available because I want sport/ventilated seats. He said all black was another good option, but I didn't really want black seats, been there with a previous A4 and they were too hot in the summer. Although, he said they are different now and don't retain heat like they used to. I think I'll stick with nougat/black.

While we were picking up the Q7, the dealership had a Q7 black-on-black with the black optics package. Incredibly cool. But, I have to agree with LarryV, with the warmer exterior colors, stick with the aluminum trim. It works.

Pulled the trigger the other night on the Argus brown.
Ordered a prestige, argus brown with black interior, layered walnut inlays, black headliner, adaptive chassis, driver assistance, 21 inch wheels, all-weather mats, and entertainment package prep.
Let the countdown begin.

Found this new video. It's not a particularly good review and not pertinent to many of us since it's a diesel model, but it is one of the only videos I've found so far of what I believe is argus brown metallic.
