So initially I ordered an Argus Brown Metallic Prestige with a black interior, I think the order was put in the system on April 28th or so. Dealership told me I had until May 8 to make changes. During that time, I got a bit nervous about the brown color and decided to change to Orca black with black optics and rock gray interior. For whatever reason, as I have stated before, I am not the biggest fans of Audi's "black" interiors, so I decided to try the rock gray. Unfortunately, the dealership said the system was locking it out from making changes, despite it not showing it as "frozen to changes." So they placed a new order for the black vehicle.
Then my brand rep left Audi for a real estate career.
So I went in to meet the person who would be handling my order, and we reviewed the order for the Orca black vehicle. Turns out they forgot to add the black headliner to the rock gray interior, which was very important to me. While this vehicle is not showing it as being frozen to changes, they are unable to make any changes in the system (again). So I guess they called the distributor to beg them to add the black headliner, and the distributor said they should have an answer sometime Monday.
So they asked me whether I still would want the vehicle if they were not able to get the black headliner. I asked if I could revert to the Argus Brown build if indeed they were unable to get the headliner switched, and they were open to that, although they seemed to prefer I stick with the black w/black optics build. I suspect the Argus brown may be a bit easier to sell.
So long story long, I basically have two vehicles on order, and I can choose which I want, with the only exception being the Argus vehicle is build week 2116 and will likely arrive in July, while the Orca vehicle is build week 2416 and will likely arrive in August. So I won't be able to see them together and make my choice.
My dealership has claimed the order process is basically working backwards for Q7's right now...that the orders are being submitted and then pulled into the system before they are being allocated, rather the them being allocated and then pulled into the system. This is causing the orders to get "locked" even before the system is showing them as being frozen to changes.
Not sure if this is accurate or something going on on their end, but it is what it is.

Yeah, they are really moving quickly...my dealer initially told me maybe August but more likely September...now it's looking like early July.

I can assure everyone that the Argus Brown is a top seller. I have been unsuccessfully trying to get it to see it in person at my dealership. My dealer had couple of them come in in the past 2 months and it drove off the lot before I could see it.

Got the beauty home yesterday and it looks stunning. Argus Brown rocks and the walnut inlays looks amazing with the black dash background. I went with pistachio beige rather than the nougat brown interior and I couldn't be happier. Posting some pics of my beauty.
