Default Audicare - Worth it for a lease?

Hi all, is Audicare worth getting on a car if you're going to do a 3 year lease with only 10,000 miles per year?

Probably not, they do the 10k for free, AudiCare is ~$850 for 5 more services which is about $170 per service. Since you're probably only going to pay for 1 or 2, i'd wager it would be less than $400.

If this affects the residual they'll give you on the lease that might change the math, and I'll plead ignorance there.

I think most folks will answer Yes so long as you're close to a dealer and it won't cost you more in $ or time to go out of your way over an alternate local mechanic. Looks like you're not unfamiliar with Audi ownership, so I sense this is purely a leasing question and whether or not you would need to take as much care of the car since you're giving it back?

It usually bumps up the residual, however, so you don't really pay the full amount for it. I'd ask them to show you the math with or without it. Shouldn't cost you the full $850 unless you end up buying the car off lease, in which case you're paying for it later.

Curious what others think...

Yeah, it's supposed to improve the residual value making it essentially free on a leased car. See what the selling dealer has to say about it.

Unless the residual difference adds up to the cost of Audi Care, it wouldn't make sense if you ware planning on turning the car in after 3 years. On the other hand, if you buy the car out at lease end, then you would receive the full four scheduled service benefit.

Exactly. I figure during the lease term, I'll take in in 3 times for scheduled maintenance. Anything out of the ordinary would be covered by warranty. I'll see what they say at the dealer.

Especially if you are going for a fully loaded one. The more expensive your Q7 is, the less Audi care is going to cost you. Sounds strange but due to the added residual, that's exactly what it boils down to.

Even if you are looking at a base vehicle BUT are leasing for 36 months with 12,000 miles/year (so in other words, get 2 services covered), it pays for itself as well.

I leased mine for 3 years with 10,000 miles but since the MSRP was about $88K, the added 1% in residual covered the cost of the plan. Basically, I'm only paying interest on Audicare - I think it was about $3 or $4 a month - still cheaper than the 20,000-mile service. Now, if I would have leased for 12k miles a year, my savings would have even been bigger.

I talked about this with my dealer when I signed the papers and the guy told me that the biggest issue in selling Audicare to customers who are leasing is that 'they wouldn't get it' (that's what HE said..(. They would understand that it costs $849 but don't get the fact that it also increases the residual by 1% so even if they would save money, they still deny it.

I opted not to purchase audi care:

1) Not certain how many miles I will actually put on my 36m/10k lease before turning it in
2) I can change the oil in 20 min using the same tools (pump & wrench) for C7 A6

But I'd have to agree, for most audi care is a no-brainer...

I didn't get it on the car I just picked up. They were charging $900 over 36 mos for 2 services that the F&I guy said would cost $700. I could have paid $600 up front but I declined that as well. I will figure out the last service in year 3 as part of the process to get the next car. Otherwise they have use of my $600 for 24 mos at which time they would be "giving" me a free service at 20,000 miles worth no more than $300. If I was buying and keeping for 6 years then I would have purchased the Audicare (I have it on my A8). The F&I guy was irritated with me. Makes me think their compensation is tied to selling needless add ons
