Auto Engine Off not working
#11
it's intermittent on my 2013 A6
I've brought this up on every service visit so far and the dealer says no problem found! It works sometimes and not others under the same driving conditions, and seems to fail more often when its raining! It'll work for a few miles first thing in the AM when I'd expect the battery to be less charged after sitting overnight, then after 20 minutes of driving it'll decide not to shut the engine off. Dealer says there is nothing they can do since there are no related error codes. Sounds like a coverup of a marginally designed feature to me.

Not really. I am in so cal and it's been 100 in my area regularly and it kicks in most of the time. If you are driving short commutes it will likely not kick in because of the AC working harder. But usually once the cabin temp levels out and the AC can relax a bit, the auto stop / start will work fine.

It won't work if the AC is set to MAX. Also it won't work during the initial 10-1 minutes or so. Also it will only work for 30 secs after which the engine restarts. Its a useless feature IMO as the fuel savings are not obvious at all to me.

My on/off worked fine until last week. I took it in to the dealer for a software upgrade/recall, and it hasn't worked once since I got the car back. I'm here in San Diego and while it's been warm, it's no warmer than last month. In fact, it was in the upper 70's when I left work today. Had the air on low and it did not kick in once during my 25 minute commute home. Other times, I've had the air on med/high and with the seat ventilation on and it was working just fine.
