As long as you have internet connect (audi-connect not required) you should be able to get it, I don't know when the notification is pushed out, but the map is available and should be able to be pulled at any time, if you need more than 1 state/region you might have to use the SD card for the update.

I have my own SIM card in mine and I can not get the Nav update, is there something I'm missing?

One thing i noticed... in the OTA update, it only wants to download the maps of my "region" - NY, NJ, PA, and some other states. I want the map for all of the USA, so I usually update via SD card to assure it.

So since I cancelled the initial update when it popped up, I started the download manually. I waited until it reached 80% and got the message it would complete once the car was parked. Funny enough, the car was parked and in P for the entire time so I shut it off completely. Let's see what happens the next time I get in. FYI, I only downloaded the map for Florida. I doubt I will need any other maps anytime soon.

I downloaded the maps on the website a few months ago and updated it using an SD card. The install took about 30 minutes.

I did this today for Q8 and it loaded gas stations, schools and some other content in both VC and MMI. I previously had all content off since it looks a lot less cluttered. Now I can’t get rid of the gas stations and some other icons on the VC cluster. I was able to get rid of them on the MMI screen somehow. I should have left well enough alone. Anyone else notice this?

Never mind, the icons disappeared I guess the car just needed to be shut down for a little while...
