Buy or not to buy Q7 - Big problem!
#21
I agree the 2017 Q7 is a great SUV. I am disappointed with the Gasolinegate. If Japanese / US carmakers can come up with ULEV gas engines, why would Audi need to cheat to meet US emission requirements? I just hope Audi handles this issue well for the brand-sake ---> our resale value.

We lease, both a 2017 Q7 and a 2016 A6.
We live in LA, so lots of city driving, and hills, however we rack up few odometer miles compared to the actual W&T we put on vehicles (IMHO).

Great. Lets keep religion, god and walls out of this forum.
In other case, Q7 is at port now so will be at the dealer in few days. My decision is still pending but the excitement is killing me! No really update on the lawsuit.

Regardless of the scandal, it's a great vehicle. I plan to keep it for 8+ years. The way I see it, the pleasure of having and driving it outweighs the scandal. The gasolinegate is a disappointment which may or may not affect our cars. We can only hope Audi handle it well. By the time I need to sell it, I hope the dust has settled. If not, I'll take the financial hit then. If Audi is being a jackass about gasolinegate, my next car won't be an Audi; it's as simple as that.

I think it boils down what matters to you (OP) the most.
If you want a great vehicle, get it. Many on this forum and reviewers agree it is an awesome vehicle. Not perfect but awesome.
But if the potential loss of value keeps you awake at night. Then dont take the gamble with the Q7 and find something that will sit easier with you.
I personally plan to keep it this vehicle loong term so the value of the vehicle is not going to matter to me really. Plus I have been guilty of cheating myself with my test pipes on other vehicles =) so I am not gonna be a hypocrite lol

The recent petition to the EPA to relax emissions was shot down last week...there is really no reason/justification for Audi/VAG to be cheating/lying when many other manufacturers are able to meet or even exceed the requirements.
