Ignorant may be a better term. Works fine.

Default Photos of factory installed hitch on 2018 Q7 prestige

here are photos. The factory hitch does not hider the kick hatch opener.

View of the hitch receiver

The hitch does not stick out behind the bumper. This also shows the plug for trailer brakes.

Factory Hitch from ground level. It does not go below the bumber - the bumber is molded around the hitch.

Hitch from above - note that it does not protrude beyond the bumper.. actually what you see is the factory rubber end-plug.

Yeah, I know, the fancy power-folding one.

In the US, that's not possible because some idiot might get a body part in there (I leave it up to you which one..) and sue. LOL

I was rear ended twice in my 2014 Q7, and the hitch took the full impact - zero body damage. So.....I'll take our version!

In USA, in addition to the ball/hitch, you must also have a two CHAINS attached from the Trailer to the CAR (Not the hitch itself)... this is to assist in case either the coupler, ball, or hitch receiver fails. I was actually driving behind a rental truck once that was towing a trailer, when the BALL came detached from the hitch receiver. The chains saved the day!
Also, on some larger systems, there is a small cable that is attached from the trailer to the vehicle... the cable, if pulled, will turn on the trailer brakes. This cable would ONLY be pulled if both the hitch, and the chain fails. We therefore up to three fail-safes.. we have one main (the hitch) one secondary (the chain) and the emergency brake.
You can see a trailer hookup with the first two systems here:
