Default Disabling CarPlay?

Hey guys, just took delivery of my 17 Q7 Prestige and it's great (had to wait 2.5 months but was worth it)!

My wife and I use the car pretty interchangeably and CarPlay well.. sucks. If I plug my phone in, it disables Bluetooth for the entire car and both phones. I'd prefer to use it as just a charger, but I don't know a way to do that.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks!

If you go into connection manager (off settings), you can select the Audi Smartphone Interface and unselect your phone. I can't recall if this remembers the settings once the ignition is switched off.

Other thing you could look for is if there is a charge only lightning cable that blocks data?

I'm not a huge fan of CarPlay but the key thing to make it useable is get used to Siri. Same goes for the Audi controls, voice controls have got pretty good.

Yeah but if I plug my phone in again, I believe it basically tries to set it up again.

I will take a look around for a lightning charge only cable, that is an easier solution.

To turn off CarPlay, on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Restrictions. Set a restrictions passcode, and turn off the CarPlay slider. Restart your music apps, and everything should work.

PortaPow Specialised 21AWG 1ft Charge Only Apple Lightning Cable - 2x Faster Charging From a PC

From Amazon, charges but blocks data! Works perfectly. I keep this in one outlet and another non blocker in the other. This way I can choose Car Play or not!

Plug it into a 12v adapter in the center armrest, not into the USB? Pretty easy fix.
