Do all 3.0 Q7’s burn oil?

I’m going in for my third oil change and service, for the third time in a row about 8000 miles after the oil change I get the add a quart light.
I called the dealer to express my concerns but she said that is normal with every Q7 due to the size and there’s nothing I should worry about.
I am worried considering this is the only car I have ever owned that always asks for a quart of oil.
Does everybody experience this?

I have a 2017 Q7 with 102,000 miles on it and have not had to add oil when running 10,000 miles between services.

They say it's "normal", but I would not be happy with that.

I'd ask them to measure how much comes out - add quart is a default message, and does not always translate to a quart

Also depends highly on how you drive, towing, and other factors

This has been extensively discussed on this forum. High oil consumption is common and Audi does not consider it a problem.

My 2019 3.0L Q7 has 6000 miles on it and is down 1/2 qt. I will change out the Q7's as soon the oil filter cartridges arrive in the mail - I just can't let a brand new engine go 10K miles on the original oil despite Audi's recommendations. I'd never have noticed it being down 1/2 qt from new other than the Audi connect app makes it easy to check oil level, and based on lots of posts here about consumption, I've been watching it.

In the last 30 years or so, I can only remember adding oil to a car once between oil changes. My 2012 Audi A3 (2.0 gasoline turbo) had the oil light go on in the middle of nowhere I-5 in California's central valley. The oil level was pretty much exactly at the low mark on the dip stick. I drove to the next gas station and added a quart.

2018 3.0... 6800mi and I'm down 2/3 Qt... will see if it makes it to the first oil change in a couple of months without requiring a top off... A few things to think about... changing oil every 10K vs 3-5K (your engine might be using some oil but it gets changed before it's noticeably low) You have an electronic "dip stick" and an app so you're more aware of the oil level... The engine holds 7.2 Quarts of oil so if you're one quart low that's ~13% vs an engine that holds 4-5 Quarts 20-25%... I really like John's explanation... check this out:

I like to see that oil indicator at full. I check regularly and have added one quart in 12,000 miles. The oil was changed yearly. I’m a big believer in the break in period. You may give up some performance but you get smoothness and longevity.

I'm just under 30k, never gotten this message or had to add any.

Just got the message and added a qt today (~4K after service).

If its burning oil, I wonder if the dealer will top if off for free.
