Default Do you use rear sunshade?

I lowered the tailgate sunshade it after months of usage, and it felt like a fresh breath of air. It's like rear view going from 480i to 4K tv.
I always thought tailgate sunshade could help deflect some headlights, but not really, also since the rear is so long, it's almost impossible to get sun from there even without a shade.
It doesn't hide the cargo area either, so I am not sure what's the purpose of the rear sunshade. I lowered it and I think it will stay that way for now.

We use it when our dogs are in the back. It is quite helpful in the summertime, because it does get quite hot back there even with the A/C on.

Our Q7 and our S550, both always have the rear and side shades up at all times. It keeps the car cool and it also helps with privacy of stuff stored in the back.

The Q's tints are the darkest out of all our cars and are very good, stock, so the shades are just an extra measure. Didn't have them up since December of last year but once summer hit and we put them up, we never took them down again. I thought it would impair viewing when changing lanes or something, but even with polarized glasses on (which should have no effect anyway), it is perfectly fine to see through.

With the shade up at night, it's too dark to see cars behind, so I don't really use it anymore.

Living in SFL, I keep it up 10 months out of the year. But, for a $70K it should be powered. Agree that its difficult to use at night.

You just reminded me that I had one. I never understood why I would limit my visibility while driving and have never considered raising it. But then again, I love light coming in and would never even raise the side shades if I was sitting in the back

I used it on a hot/sunny day on a long road trip with kids in the back watching their ipads/sleeping. Made a difference in keeping the car cooler IMO. Otherwise, I keep it down.

Also helps with the morons that use their high beams or have aux lights not properly aligned.
