The 3.0 Q7 definitely has different power delivery, not having a turbo. But at WOT it’s significantly faster. My 2016 X5 35i feels significantly faster than my 3.0 Q7 but on paper the Q7 lays down 0-60 about half a second quicker. Seat of pants feel is like 2 seconds slower if I had to guess in the Q7 but numbers don’t lie.
I think the 3.0 is very refined and the power is there when you put the pedal down. Otherwise it feels pretty average.
One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is the ZF feels nearly identical to our Grand Cherokee w/Hemi. The ZF in the X5 feels nothing like the other two. It’s sharper always, bangs the shifts in Sport+. I think that’s a lot why the Q seems a bit more relaxed, but it’s tricking you still hauling *** in a more buttoned up fashion. I’m coming to love it

I also notice the 3.0 doesn't have to downshift to give me power to merge onto the highway.
End of the day, I'm happy with my decision to get the 2.0.

When I was shopping for my Q7, I completely dismissed the 2.0T as a viable option. Then I found a CPO 2.0T in the exact color and options I was looking for, so I test drove it and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't nearly as underpowered as I imagined coming from the previous gen 3.0T Q7. To me, it was completely worth it and I haven't regretted my purchase one bit.

We have a 2.0T in our 2014 Q5 (220HP vs the new 252HP). I had regretted getting the 2.0T even after having test driven it and the 3.0T in the Q5 - living with the 2.0T day to day showed just how underpowered it us for me personally. As such, the 2.0T in our Q7 was never an option, despite the fact there is more power. I have a Neuspeed Power Module for the Q5 that makes it bearable.
I will say that if we end up getting a newer Q5 at some point, the new 2.0T will likely be satisfactory. I get it only comes with that now, so we wouldn't have a choice but point is - the new 2.0T might be acceptable in the Q5, but I think it's much too small in the Q7.
For those that did end up with the 2.0T in the Q7 and think it's underpowered - consider a Neuspeed Power Module or something similar - will likely help.

I have a Q5 2.0 and a Q7 2.0 very happy with both. A daley driver more than enough power. If your going to tow,I can see the 3.0.spend the 6.000 on the options. No oil and fuel rail problems and front end a lot lighter. In my Q5 I have Bang and Olson sound system.Q7 Audi sistem sounds the same,my opinion don't spend the 4.000 A waste.
