Fidelity Platinum will cover most of the electronics where there are some exceptions with the CPO. Beyond that you should read both policies and not rely on statements made here. The CPO would not require third party pre-approval and I believe the deductible is $75. CPO would also be honored at any Audi dealer and is transferable to another owner for a fee. Not sure about Fidelity.

There is an 85 dollar deductible for the CPO. Just not sure what the difference is between the normal audi warranty for the first 4 years 50k and the 2 years 50k that the CPO gives you. I've heard there's more restrictions. Also what the difference is between the new Safeguard warranty they use and the Fidelity warranty they used to use. I know the Fidelity starts from when you buy it so if the car has 7k on it when you buy the warranty and the warranty is for 100k you actually get it to 107k. Where as the Safeguard warranty starts from the time the car was put in service. Other than that I'm confused as to what the Safeguard covers that the Fidelity doesnt. There is so much small print on those brochures it makes your head spin.

If its a 17 with 6500 miles your gonna get the balance 4yr 50k anyway. And for the Audi dealer to charge 2999 for what (certified) think id walk on that deal and see what they say when you start the walk.Id question the integrity of the sales man, manager or whoever came up with that. It is a Audi dealer right?

One of the biggest differences of CPO non-coverage vs. the OEM warranty besides the deductible is most of the MMI functions:

What is What is Not Covered?

- This warranty does not cover navigation components, sound system components, including radios, compact disc and DVD players, speakers, subwoofer and radio tape head cassette cleaning

That's what I learned from my dealer too. Says no more third party warranty; all through Audi now. When inquired of what are exception from coverage, the finance manager said "everything is covered". He quoted 2995$ for 8 years, 70k miles(?), and 250$ deductible.

Never trust what a dealer (or anyone else) tells you. Read the agreement first to be sure you understand the coverage and exclusions. Also, $250 deductibles can add up fast over the years.

$$$ I think you could do better than that.

I was quoted 10yr/100k for $4460 today on platinum coverage. I took it as the exclusions are pretty reasonable and the biggest concerns for me are adaptive suspension and electronics.

I'm excited to pick up my '15 S5 convertible tomorrow with 7500 miles on the clock however my head is spinning on this extended warranty crap. Coming from years ago when I had many BMW's (some with warranty and some without) and knowing how things could go bad very quickly I am thinking about an extended warranty but not at what the dealer is offering. I got a quote(for Audi Platinum coverage) for a total of 8 years from in service date and 120K miles for $4945 and 8 years and 100K miles for $3940, at those prices I'll just probably self insure. I am also interested in the Tire and Rim protection which I was quoted $1665 which I think is also high but knowing there are 19's on the car and I live in NJ that I probably need to do at least that. Thanks for the good info here!!

Save the $1695 and self insure. Most wheels from pothole damage can be straightened or repaired for $100-$150. I have 19" wheels, live in the NE and have spent $300 repairing wheels in almost 5 years.
