Default Has anyone put 275/45 r20 tires on?

Our 2017 Q7 has the Pirelli 285/45 r 20 tires and they are now almost bald at 19000 miles. I was looking to switch to a non run flat, but there are very few options. Does anyone know if it would be an issue if I stepped down to a 275/45 r 20 tire? In that smaller size there are tons of options. Would that size tire work on the 20" Audi rims?

Your best bet is to check with the seller. Tirerack will tell you if a tire size will fit on your Q. I have done it before (gone wider) without issues

We had a pretty healthy, lengthy discussion in the thread below.

Long story short: 275/45 is a viable size. Plenty of options.

I too wondered about moving to the 275/45/20 instead of OEM 285/45/20. Looking for more options, better prices, and no runflats. I called the Audi Service Center in Springfield, MO and told him my plan and that I wanted to make sure it would not void my premiere plus warranty for my 2017 Q7 if I went with the 275/45/20. He said it would not. Has anyone had any experience otherwise? I chose the Michilen Premiere 275/45/20 today at Discount Tire. Amazing service too. My chief interest is comfort and quiet ride. Discount Tire gave me good credit on my crappy Pirelli's Scorpian Verde RunFlats OEM - two of the tires wore out at 25,000. Discount Tire said I'd probably get about 30K on ANY tire I put on due to the weight of the vehicle. Only drawback is the Michelin gives warranty credit only with they hit 2/32 when most give it at 4/32. I asked about the Conti DWS and he said they were a performance tire and would not give me the comfort and quiet ride of the Michelin. I've got a 30 day test period to change them out if I don't like them, or I get some great insights from your experiences on other tires.

Was going to paste in this link but you beat me to it...
Just do it, stop contemplating.
Better options, almost all of them non run-flat.
Thank all of us later!

Again I'd never down size.
It doesnt look good and vehicle wont function as intended.
To save a few bucks I wouldnt do it. If you cant afford the maintenance of the vehicle you purchase you need to buy something more affordable.

Oh yeah and someone already pointed out there is an identical thread two down from this one. Why the duplicate?

1.3% is nothing. If you can tell the difference by looking, you have incredibly well calibrated eyes. Are you saying that the 275s aren't wide enough? If so, why did mine come with 255s?

Agreed. Look at the actual tread width measurements for the two sizes and brands you are comparing, they will be incredibly close. Remember Michelin runs almost 1/2" wider than most other tires when comparing in the same size...

Any difference other then the exact same spec is something. It doesnt take any calibration to notice the 0.4" difference.
I've gone through more wheels and tires then I can to explain. Any deviation from the norm is very apparent to me.
255s on what wheels? ...at what diameter? My preference is always up and never down. Only benefit from down is price.
I've even run winter tires above spec.

Most folks have no problem running smaller than factory OEM spec as long as they are within 3%
Each to their own my friend.
