Default Luggage compartment lid foot control

Has anyone figured out how to get the foot control on the lid to work? I have a Prestige with Advanced Key but have yet to get it to work.

I can't get it to work consistently. Frankly, I think it's somewhat of a gimmick and find it faster to either push the button on my fob or the release in the center of the tailgate rather than keep waving my leg and appearing that I have an affliction.

I don't have the car yet, but I asked the sales guy to demonstrate it for me and he just swung his foot under the center of the rear bumper to open and close the lid. I don't know if you have to enable that in the MMI though.

All doors must be closed and locked for it to work. You just sort of wave your foot in the area of the tow hitch. In my experience works about 80% of the time. From what I understand that is how often the mechanism works on all cars.

Maybe I didn't have it locked. Will check into that now. There is also a variable that it must have been closed for a period of time.

It works 30-40% of the time on my current vehicles. Picking up the Q7 tomorrow and will let you know if my experience is any different (not expecting it to be).
