MKII Amplifier Location Base Stereo
 
I am looking to upgrade the base system with an Audio Control unit, I have the base system, No Bose, No B&W. I've looked in both rear side quarters and there is no amp for the base system? Is there one? Or do I have to tap the front door speaker leads in the door?

Yes, there is no separate amp, everything is in the Infotainment unit, which is in the glovebox.

FYI... for reference on where to put something, in the 2018 cars with the BOSE system, there is an amp in the back under the floor (where the spare tire used to be in my old Q5). I believe that there is also an amp (or just a subwoofer) under the center console by the driver.

Nothing under the center console. All speakers are located in the doors, pillars, front dash, rear headliner and "trunk". Amplifier (if not base system) is located in the "trunk", and the rest of the system is located in the dash and glove box.

Is the Sub in the rear amplified by the base amp in the base system?
